How Climatology Is Different From Meteorology

Climatology is the study of the slowly varying behavior of Earths atmosphere, oceans, and land (climate) over a period of time. It can also be thought of as weather over a period of time. It is considered a branch of meteorology. A person who studies or practices climatology professionally is known as a climatologist. Two main areas of climatology include paleoclimatology, the study of past climates by examining records such as ice cores and tree rings; and historical climatology, the study of climate as it relates to human history over the last few thousand years. What Do Climatologists Do? Everyone knows that meteorologists work to forecast the weather. But what about climatologists? They study: Climate variability:  Climate variability describes short-term (lasting years to decades) changes in climate caused by naturally occurring events like El Nià ±o, volcanic activity, or changes in the suns activity (solar cycles).Climate change:  Climate change is a warming or cooling in long-term (lasting decades to millions of years) weather patterns, at different places around the world.Global warming:  Global warming describes an increase in Earths average temperature over time.  Note: Although climate change and global warming are two different things, when we talk about climate change were usually referring to global warming because our planet is currently warming temperatures. Climatologists study the above in a number of ways, including studying climate patterns — long-term that have a bearing on our weather today. These climate patterns include El Nià ±o, La Nià ±a, the Arctic oscillation, North Atlantic oscillation, and so on. Commonly gathered climate data and maps include: TemperaturePrecipitation (rainfall and drought)Snow and ice coverSevere weather (thunderstorms and tornadoes frequency)Surface radiationOcean temperatures (SSTs) One of the benefits of climatology is the availability of data for past weather. Understanding past weather can give meteorologists and everyday citizens a view of trends in weather over an extended period of time in most locations around the globe. Although climate has been tracked for a while, there are some data that cannot be obtained; generally anything before 1880.  For this, scientists turn to climate models to forecast and generate a best guess of what the climate may have looked like in the past and  what it may look like  into the future. Why Climatology Matters Weather made its way into mainstream media in the late 1980s and 1990s, but climatology is only now gaining in popularity as global warming becomes a live concern for our society. What once was little more than a laundry list of numbers and data is now a key to understanding how our weather and climate could change within our foreseeable future. Edited by Tiffany Means

Methodology & It Role in Project Management-Samples for Students

Questions: 1. Define what a methodology is and the role it serves in Project Management. 2. Familiarise yourselves with the various methodologies in the list below. Choose two methodologies from this list to compare and contrast, analysing the similarities and differences between them both. 3. Finally, identify how your chosen methodologies and processes relate to the project life cycle (PLC). Answers: 1.Methodology it role in project management. The project management methodology refers to the practices and the techniques with the procedures that are used for working on a particular discipline. They are important for easy delivering of the project, with application of the different principles, themes, frameworks and the processes. The methodologies help in providing a proper structure that will help in easy delivery of the project. With this, there is a proper stack which includes the PMIs PMBOK and XP for the simplified processes. The project management helps in the customer collaboration and easy response to the change in the plan, by being agile. (Kerzner, 2013). The individuals and interactions are for the easy processes and the tools where the working on the software is over any type of the comprehensive documentation. This works with the agile projects that are characterised depending upon the demands of the customer. 2.Methodologies: compare and contrast, analysing the similarities and differences The agile methodology focus on the collaboration to handle the iterative forms to deliver the works. With this, there are different sets of the values which includes the individuals and the interactions for easy processing and the tool setup, working with the software and comprehensive documentation. The collaboration of the customer over the contract negotiation works with response to the change with being agile to the set of values and principles. The agile management methodology is taken through the series which includes the situation demands rather than any form of the pre-planned processes. (Macombe et al., 2013). Hence, for this, the agile teams work with the unpredictability through the incremental and the iterative forms of the work process. The agile project management process is mainly to handle the execution, planning and evaluating the projects. The waterfall methodology is to include the theme with the solid planning, and setting the right approach which will help in defining an easy plan for execution. The project manager tends to handle the large working with the executions based on adhering to the requirements. The requirements are defined with mainly focusing on the different phase acts as the input for the next phase. The project is then flowing through the process where there are designing, implementation, testing and maintenance phase. In this, once the testing is done, there is a scope to reflect, and revise to the changes. (Stark, 2015). The waterfall model holds the traditional project management approach where the technology is understood with well documented and the clear requirements. They are able to provide with the better results for the budget, timeline and scope. 3.How your chosen methodologies and processes relate to the project life cycle (PLC): Agile is able to work on the planning, with the execution and evaluating the project demands, where the major focus is on the adaptability to change the situations adequately. With this, there are certain ongoing communication of the project team mainly in between them and the client. They include a broad range of the software development with easy focus on the management of flow of work. The activities and the requirements are to take hold of the practices with concrete activities and the products that are the part of the framework. It works with the individuals and the interactions over the processes and tools that work on the software over the comprehensive forms of the documents. (Walden et al., 2015). The agile network helps in management of the final deliverable which depends on the results and continuous collaboration with the project stakeholders. The waterfall model is for focusing on: The systems and the requirements of the software which is captured depending upon the requirement of products. The analysis and then designing will help in building a proper schema with the business rules. The coding and the development is set through the integration of the software with development forms. The testing and operations are depending upon the debugging of defects with easy installation, migration, support and the maintenance of the systems. References Kerzner, H. Personal Statement Tips for International Legal Professionals

If you are applying to law school as an international candidate already working in your country as a lawyer, the best way to win over your reader in the opening of your essay is to be clear not just about your goals but also about your overseas academic background. This can often require a two-part introduction in your law school personal statement. Below are some personal statement tips to help get you started. The first paragraph of your introduction can address your goals, ideally in three sentences. With your goal statement, three sentences is the best approach. Open with a statement of your long-term goal in the law, ideally referring to a specific organization, especially if you are being sponsored by that organization. The second sentence can flesh out the first with specifics of the targeted role(s) and responsibilities. Your third sentence could offer the qualities and characteristics that you bring to the program. This would be just one approach. But most candidates forget t hat your reader wants above all to know (1) where (in what country) you eventually intend to practice law and (2) what kind of academic program you are coming from as an international candidate. This is why, if you are an international candidate, it can be worth your while to develop a separate three- or four-sentence paragraph describing your overseas academic credentials and current role as a legal professional. Remember that your reader in the United States may not know about the legal education system in your country or about what an undergraduate degree (or graduate degree, for that matter) qualifies a lawyer for in your country. It is important as a courtesy to provide this information to your reader, in clear and concise form. The absence of this information is the biggest problem that I encounter as an editor of international candidates’ law school personal statements. The other thing to remember, if you are an international candidate and especially if you are being spo nsored by the organization for which you work, is that playing to your role in an organization can be even better for you as an international candidate than offering your own personal achievements and goals in the law. This is because of the tendency that candidates have in law school personal statements to talk about â€Å"changing the world† (or words to that effect). But this is a clichà ©, isn’t it? It becomes much less of a clichà © if you can say something like this:I want to change the world, especially in the area of [say what you want to change], and I can see this happening right now at [Company/Law Firm Name, as a result of their work in†¦]. I am pursuing the [JD, LLM] in the hope of contributing to [projects, etc.]. With the degree from [School Name], I’ll be able to achieve these goals of mine with [Company Name].Suddenly, your hopes to â€Å"change the world† have become much less nebulous and generic and appear far more grounded in th e actual work that you do for a firm and that you want to do. Now you actually have a plan to change the world. This focus on a firm’s work and mission – and how it has affected yours – can also telegraph the qualities of loyalty and humility. These are two of the most valued qualities in candidates.Of course, it is fine if you do not want to identify a specific organization in terms of your short-term or long-term goals. But coming back to what I said above: Don’t forget that if you are applying as an international candidate, the first question in the mind of your reader (even before reading your law school personal statement) is this: In what country are you eventually intending to practice law? The sooner you answer this question in your essay, the sooner the reader can get on with your content – because if your reader is not sure of the answer to this question, the reader will be distracted throughout the essay. So as a courtesy to your reader, be clear about this.

History, Names, and Role of Dogs in Japanese Culture

History, Names, and Role of Dogs in Japanese Culture The Japanese word for dog is inu. You can write inu in either hiragana or kanji, but since the kanji character for dog is quite simple, try learning how to write it in kanji. Typical Japanese dogs include Akita, Tosa, and Shiba breeds. The onomatopoeic phrase for a dogs bark is wan-wan. In Japan, the dog is believed to have been domesticated as early as the Jomon period (10,000 B.C.). White dogs are thought to be especially auspicious and often appear in folk tales (such as Hanasaka jiisan). In the Edo period, Tokugawa Tsuneyoshi, the fifth shogun and an ardent Buddhist, ordered the protection of all animals, especially dogs. His regulations concerning dogs were so extreme that he was ridiculed as the Inu Shogun. A more recent story is the tale of Hachiko, the chuuken or faithful dog from the 1920s. Hachiko met his master at Shibuya station at the end of every workday. Even after his master died one day at work, Hachiko continued to wait at the station for 10 years. He became a popular symbol of devotion. After his death, Hachikos body was put in a museum, and there is a bronze statue of him in front of Shibuya station. Critical phrases referring to inu are as common in Japan as they are in the West. Inujini, to die like dog, is to die meaninglessly. To call someone a dog is to accuse him or her of being a spy or dupe. Inu mo arukeba bou ni ataru or when the dog walks, it runs across a stick is a common saying, meaning that when you walk outside, you could possibly meet with an unexpected fortune. Kobanashi: Ji no Yomenu Inu Here is a kobanashi (funny story) titled Ji no Yomenu Inu, or The Dog That Can’t Read.† Inu no daikiraina otoko ga, tomodachi ni kikimashita.†Naa, inu ga itemo heiki de tooreru houhou wa nai darou ka.†Ã¢â‚¬ Soitsu wa, kantanna koto sa.Te no hira ni tora to iu ji o kaite oite, inu ga itara soitsu o miseru n da.Suruto inu wa okkanagatte nigeru kara.†Ã¢â‚¬ Fumu fumu. Osoraku sono inu wa, ji no yomenu inu darou.† Grammar In the above story, â€Å"fumu fumu,† â€Å"yoshi,† and â€Å"yare yare† are Japanese interjections. â€Å"Fumu fumu† can be translated as, â€Å"Hmm,† or, â€Å"I see.† â€Å"Yare yare,† describes a sigh of relief. Here are some examples. Yoshi, sore ni kimeta: OK, I am sold on that idea!Yoshi, hikiukeyou: All right, I will take it on.Yare yare, yatto tsuita: Well, here we are at last.Yare yare, kore de tasukatta: Hallelujah! Come up with a plan Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Come up with a plan - Essay Example Establishing a high completion/proficiency percentage shows me that the students are progressing in knowledge because they are accomplishing the tasks assigned through differentiation. To accomplish this goal, I will first determine what students know about the unit of instruction before I begin to teach it. These diagnostic tests will show me where students should begin their studies. The class is stratified roughly into three categories (Above, At and Below Grade Level). I will anticipate the diagnostic test showing the strengths and weaknesses of students across these categories. Based on the results of the diagnostic, students will be allowed to self-select multiple learning activities that have been developed for their current level of understanding. Allowing students to self-select provides a level of intrinsic motivation that dictated assignments do not, especially for students that struggle to learn or who possess negative attitudes towards authority. Students working above g rade level will be provided with opportunities to conduct semi-guided research, interview individuals in the community that have strong links to a particular topic in the unit of study or attend to a project that deepens their understanding of the unit.
